Paris Haute Couture A/W13 is coming to a close yet the designers aren't slowing down, quite the opposite infact.

Every year designers come together to showcase their luxurious, handcrafted designs and twice a year I get excited to see the most gracious, beautiful designs these luxury designer houses have to offer.

However, not any old designer can take part in Haute Couture. There are strict rules and regulation to comply with the French Ministry of Industry. A designer must create made-to-measure designs for private clients as well as offer personal fittings. Not only that they must have a full-time workshop in Paris that must employ no fewer than twenty staff all the while producing two collections a year; January and July. Having to compromise both daytime and formal evening wear.

Elie Saab

Maison Martin Margiela

Valentino

Each design that is presented is hand constructed by a life long team member willing to sacrifice many hours in the day to ensure that the dress is made to absolute jaw-dropping perfection. Having seen various pieces from various household name designers I have to say Elie Saab is by far my favourite. The designs are unique without being too edgy and could definitely be worn to a sophisticated event without being overdressed.
